Dior Fahrenheit Review – Ultra Masculine

It was in 90’s, While going through my dad’s collection of fragrances, I came across an old bottle of Dior Fahrenheit which had like 5–6 sprays left. For the sake of decluttering, I thought to throw it off. Thankfully, I just decided to spray on my wrist to check the fragrance, and oh my, I was completely blown away.

Right from my childhood, I remember the scent of gasoline during our top-ups in our old Chevrolet Truck. It was and is still addictive to me. And with the Dior Fahrenheit opening, I still get that vibe.

A word of caution though, do not over-spray it and use it in winter only. You are good to go, if you are mature, dressed up in jeans and outdoors, this perfume would turn heads.

Summary Of Dior Fahrenheit Review

If you are a fan of highly masculine, smokey, and leathery scents, Dior Fahrenheit is the perfect fragrance to suit your personality.

It is specially designed for strong and mature men. Like the one, we see in movies or TV shows. Have you seen True Detective? If yes, then you must fondly remember the character of Rustin Cohle. He’s the type of person that must be wearing such a scent.

Before I move further, let’s quickly read the pointers below. They will help you understand Dior Fahrenheit and find out what makes this fragrance popular. Briefly though; we will be discussing the perfume in detail ahead.

  • A strong fragrance for men, launched by the House of Dior in 1988.
  • Since it’s a classic one, it can evoke strong emotions and nostalgia.
  • Although a versatile fragrance, it is more suitable for colder seasons.
  • A highly masculine and bold fragrance.
  • A spray and two can last for the whole day.
  • It can feel a bit kerosine-like at first, but once it settles, the real game starts.

If you are a regular visitor of OppositeAttracts, then you know that Dior Fahrenheit is amongst my list of best Dior Fragrances for men.

Dior Fahrenheit Notes

Let’s start with the top notes first. It is a mixture of 8 different components, which are Nutmeg Flower, Lavender, Cedar, Chamomile, Mandarin Orange, Hawthorn, Bergamot, and Lemon.

The scent is quite strong. Imagine a mature man, in his 40s, wearing a leather jacket, standing at a gas station to refuel his car. Metaphorically, I would explain the vibe of this scent similar to this exact imagination. Very vintage and rustic!

If we talk about the heart notes, they contain a hint of Violet Leaf, Nutmeg, Cedar, Sandalwood, Carnation, Honeysuckle, Jasmine, and Lily-of-the-Valley. The top and heart notes complement each other pretty well.

Last but not least, the dry-down phase is all about the base notes of Leather, Vetiver, Musk, Amber, Patchouli, and Tonka Bean.

Its opening is not sweet like other perfumes from the house of Dior. And if you want a sweet or mass-appealing perfume, then opt for Dior Homme Intense.

Or maybe Dior Sauvage EDP, which is very mass appealing but very common.

Bottle And Box Presentation

The box of Dior Fahrenheit is quite simple. A sleek black rectangular box with a double-opening flap. Just open the box and get the bottle out; no fancy opening.

House of Dior is not known for good box presentations of perfumes. Unlike the Nishane Hacivat box presentation, which is very mesmerizing and has a theme behind it.

Now moving toward the bottle. In my opinion, it is very elegant. It is made in such a way that shows clearly this item belongs to a mature person. A very classic and old-school bottle and believe me or not, it gives a vibe of an old gasoline bottle.

No extra detailing. No cluttered looks. Just a simply designed bottle showing the beautiful color gradient of black, red, and orange.

How Does Dior Fahrenheit Smell Like

The Bold Gasoline like Opening Of Dior Fahrenheit

You will get a kerosene or gasoline-like harsh opening. Just do two sprays to bear that. Give it a few minutes to tame down and then appreciate the beauty of this legendary perfume which has survived 4 decades.

Dior Fahrenheit’s harsh opening would be followed with a spicy sweet pepperiness and a green woody earthiness that gives a much-needed kick.

Cedar and Nutmeg flowers bring a woody scent that beautifully combines with the floral notes of Lavender, Chamomile, and Hawthorn. To freshen up the opening, Mandarin Orange, Bergamot, and Lemon are the perfect components.

Some people feel the opening to be overwhelming or too heavy, but to me, it’s a matter of seconds when the citrusy notes balance the heaviness and spiciness. Once the fragrance sets on the skin, no one can resist.

The strong opening defines Dior Fahrenheit as a fragrance for men who want to stand out. It’s a kind of fragrance capable of turning heads due to the magnificent blend of opening notes.

In a nutshell, this perfume citruses accords are not like Eau-Sauvage, and rightly so as that perfume is tailor-made for freshness and summers.

Heart Notes Of Dior Fahrenheit – Aromatic Spice

The transition of top notes to middle notes in Dior Fahrenheit is amazingly smooth. The woody notes are taken over by sweet sandalwood and the beautiful florals of Carnation, Honeysuckle, Jasmine, and Lily-of-the-Valley.

The seconds after you feel the strong and impactful top notes, softer heart notes feel amazing. These notes are perfectly crafted to balance out the strong opening.

To the people who regard Dior Fahrenheit as too strong and heavy, I would say they didn’t analyze the heart notes well.

The Nutmeg and Sandalwood in the heart notes do not let the woody notes in the opening fade away. These components don’t let the florals divert the scent toward feminine.

Base Notes Of Dior Fahrenheit – A Leathery Elegance

The base notes of leather are the most prominent ones, which makes this scent a masculine one. After the dry-down, I can clearly feel a gentle, musky, violent scent with a dominating hint of leather.

Something creamy underneath can also be felt clearly, which gives a sense of warmth and comfort. The base notes are the main reason I would regard this fragrance as the scent for mature men in their 30s.

Projection And Longevity

I sprayed 2–3 sprays, and I must say the projection was impressive. This scent definitely is a room filler type and can easily give off a strong projection for about 5–6 hours.

It is not for indoors though and not an office fragrance as well. It is a raw and complex perfume that should be worn during night outs and while wearing informal and masculine clothes.

Moreover, I also found outstanding longevity on both skin and clothes. My clothes smell like aromatic leathery woodiness even after a couple of days.

When I wear Dior Fahrenheit outdoors, the smell stays on my body for about 12 hours, which can extend up to 20+ (on clothes) when worn indoors.

The opening notes do not fade away quickly and can be felt along with the heart notes clearly. At the dry-down phase, the base notes are clearly noticeable, along with well-balanced aromatic spicy notes.

When talking about sillage, it is above average, and the smell keeps lingering in the air for about 1 hour easily. The people around me can feel the trails left behind by my fragrance.

When I wear this scent, I can be sure that I will smell great for the rest of the day and gather a handful of compliments.

Dress And Occasions

I can basically wear Dior Fahrenheit everywhere, but for others, I suggest wearing informal jeans and a leather jacket. Wear it for casual hang-outs with mature people around you.

What I honestly think is that this fragrance can increase the confidence of the person wearing it. But still, I would recommend it to men over 40. Let’s say 30! Men under 30 can find it pretty boring and old-school, just like my brother did.

For younger audiences, I would recommend Versace Eros as it is fresh and yet good for cooler temperatures.

Pros And Cons – Dior Fahrenheit

Pros

  • Long-lasting
  • Can keep you smell fresh all day
  • Suitable for casual gatherings
  • Price is okay

Cons

  • Not for the younger audience
  • Has an old-school vibe
  • Not uni-sex

Final Thoughts On Dior Fahrenheit

At last, I would like to say that Dior Fahrenheit has all that it takes to become a signature scent for a man. The old-school feel makes it a must-buy for men in their 30s or 40s. The scent might come off as strong at the start. But, once you get a hold of it, it will be difficult to switch to a different perfume.
